Simon B managed to catch up Benji Vaughan (aka Prometheus and one half of Younger Brother) before the weekend to get the lowdown on what's in store for the future.
SB: So tell us a little bit about how your Prometheus has gone down
BV: Well I don't really know yet to be honest. I've seen a few reviews and so far it seems to be pretty positive.
SB: Rumor has it Younger Brother is now completed and mastered?
BV: Younger Brother's second birthday is officially the 22nd of February after a year and half of conception and we're really proud of it. We're just waiting for some artwork for it now and hope to have it ready for people to buy at the launch party on May 25th!
SB: We've heard a few rumors about something special to do with the artwork for this album... can you give us anything to go on?
BV: The rumor is still unconfirmed but we are aiming for something really really special. The likes of which hasn't been seen on Twisted before.
SB: So what's up your sleeve for the Younger Brother LIVE set in May?
BV: At the moment if possible we are trying to do the whole thing fully live, with me and Si behind two laptops running all the electronic parts separately in Ableton on separate tracks and loads of analogue synths through a mixing desk. Then we will have a guitarist, bass player, drummer and singer and then Chester doing mad percussion. We are going to try and pull it off anyway. The new album is well suited to doing it as a band.
SB: Sounds great! Is that going to have the slide guitarist from the 'All I Want' track too?
BV: It might do yes. If he's around and wants to do it then we'll be trying to get him up for sure. If not I've got a friend who I'm gonna ask to play guitar and he's also a slide player as well as a guitar player so he may well suffice.
SB: Another rumor is that during your Prometheus Live set there will be animatronic robots during your set?
BV: Sounds great as long as they're not on stilts! Also as long as they don't look like anything we've seen before.I've seen allot of robots at raves!
SB: No no, these are Broadway / film standard animatronic robots. Proper ones...
BV: That sounds great! I had one with a Python next to me while I was playing once... the python actually shed its skin during my performance it liked it so much apparently.
SB: So you're psyched and ready to go it sounds! Looking forward to Brixton Academy?
BV: Yes totally. Its extremely exciting to be playing at the Brixton Academy and to be launching the Younger Brother Album and, you know we've done two Twisted parties in the last year and we (the artists) have always felt a bit let down because its always seemed like we haven't been able to cater for everyone that's wanted to see the acts. There have always been people turned away. Its a disappointing feeling when you know that not everyone has been able to get in and people missing out, whereas at Brixton Academy I think there will finally be enough room for everybody. The only thing I would emphasize is please come along from the start! It’s a whole night of great music from start to finish and you should be there when the doors open. Ott is kicking things off, followed by Hallucinogen in Dub and then Younger Brother so you want to be fully set to see the whole trip! It’s going to be a benchmark or watermark (or whatever it is) on the lives of all our fans.
SB: Cheers Benji.
