Simon B caught up with Ott on his return from Australia and managed to get a few words out of him between baby wipes and studio sessions!

SB: Are you looking forward to doing a Hallucinogen in Dub set in May?
OTT: Yes I am, very much so actually. Got no idea what's going to happen. Normally what we do is we get together and have a two-day rehearsal round Simon's house and then forget everything and make it up as we go along! But this time we've got a week in Spain at Youth's place. Again we've got no idea what's going to happen, we're just gonna turn up there with a load of computers and toys and stuff, switch it all on and see what comes out. We've got a drummer this time who's really shit hot and bang on it and stuff. Should prove to be an interesting week! But if he's got a pool then we're fucked, cause we'll spend all week in that whilst occasionally half-heartedly pressing a few buttons! If he hasn't then we'll have to get on with it.
SB: Excellent! There are rumors of a Celtic Cross twist to the Hallucinogen in Dub Set?
OTT: It’s definitely a possibility! I worked on a lot of that Celtic Cross stuff back in the day that was where I first met Youth and Simon, back at Butterfly. It all brings back very good memories, thoroughly enjoyable times! There's been a lot of demand for the Celtic Cross stuff again recently with allot of people fondly mulling that one over. We'll see if the old chemistry is still there!
SB: How’s the baby doing?
OTT: Screaming her head off at the moment! Hold on, hold on (lifts baby up to the phone) Does that answer your question? Little fucker...that’s just her having her baby clothes changed, it sounds like we're sticking pins in her feet doesn't it! But no she's just having her clothes changed because she's pissed and pooed all over the other ones! Yeah.. She screams whenever you change her clothes!  As soon as you pick her up after she's fine again.  She's been swimming this morning.  Mummy and Daisy have been swimming and we'll find out how that went in a minute.  She loves it apparently! She went in the inflatable baby boat and she's too fat for it! She's the fattest baby in the entire world, have you seen her? She's 4 months old but she's the size of an 8-month-old baby, she's massive!  She’s just growing like a f***ing growy thing!  She's right beside me now and you can't hear her any more can you? (little happy gurgling noises down the phone) Well that’s because she's not having her clothes changed!  She's happy as a pig in shit now.  She's got a great big squashy tit to play with and then to sleep. She likes a tit does Daisy!
SB: Don't we all?
OTT: Yeah, Well of course! Ooops look the knockers are out!  (talking to the baby) Knockers at 6 O’clock number three!
SB: Last question - tell us a little bit about your second album!
OTT: Actually, if you'd asked me that two days ago I wouldn't have been able to tell you! Since I got back from Australia I've been getting all my tracks out, my little stash of tracks that I’ve been building up and having a listen through them to see what I've got and actually its going to be a stormer! From what I've gathered from listening through them all, a couple of them need remixing cause I've had a few studio problems and I've just got some new equipment which will improve the sound so I'm gonna remix a couple of them.
SB: What sort of new equipment have you got then? Go on spill the beans.
OTT: Just got a new set of monitors. I’ve always used NS-10's and I just got a really cheapo set of KRK's monitors, three hundred quids worth of powered monitors which just shed completely new light on all my mixes so I've been listening though thinking 'ok...do that, do that, do that' so yeah... they're great. Got a whole heap of tunes which I'll be finishing off over the next few months and turning it in. what are we now... beginning of March.. so I'll be handing them into the office at the end of April, beginning of May.
